Applications of Solder Mask

  1. Prevent Solder Bridging: Stops solder from flowing between copper traces that should not be connected during soldering, thereby avoiding short circuits.
  2. Protect Copper Foil: Prevents copper from oxidation, moisture, chemical corrosion, and mechanical damage.
  3. Enhance Insulation Performance: Improves the insulation of the circuit board, reducing the occurrence of failures.

Principle of Solder Mask

The solder mask is applied using special inks through processes such as screen printing, spraying, or coating, and is precisely deposited on the conductive traces of the PCB. Only the areas that require soldering pads are left exposed, while all other areas are covered, ensuring convenient soldering operations and long-lasting protection for the circuit board.
